February's session will cover health policy careers. Our speakers will share their experience with their current roles and provide advice to those seeking entry into their fields of expertise. They will highlight skills and tools that helped them in their interview process and share what a typical day in their role is like. Come prepared with questions and be ready to meet fellow DrPHers.
Speakers: Dr. Bryan O. Buckley, DrPH, MPH & Okey K. Enyia, MPH
Dr. Bryan O. Buckley is an Assistant Professor at Georgetown University and Program Director and fellow at MedStar Health Institute for Quality & Safety. A healthcare organization dedicated to providing education, training, and solutions to leaders, patients, and family members globally through assess to education to advocate for the improvement of patient outcomes and reduce preventable harm. Dr. Buckley received his DrPH from Harvard T. H. Chan School of Public Health. A leader with many hats. He currently serves as the APHA Executive Board member for APHA, the Director of Development for the DrPH Coalition, and the past Chair of the American Public Health Association's CHPPD Section.
Okey K. Enyia is a Project Manager for the DC Department of Health Care Finance where he works on Medicaid, telehealth, and behavioral health polices in the context of social determinants of health. He is pursuing his DrPH at the George Washington University School of Public Health with a concentration in health policy. He has served in the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Preparedness and Response in the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Prior to that, he served as a U.S. House and Senate staffer on Capitol Hill, were he helped draft the 21st Century Cures Act of 2016 - a significant piece of bipartisan legislation that accelerates the discovery, development, and delivery of new cures and treatments to patients across the country. A self-published author and entrepreneur, Founder & CEO of Enyia Strategies, LLC - a health policy consulting firm that provides advising, research support, policy analysis, project management, and legislative strategy for individuals and entities seeking measurable ways to influence policy on issues related to health equity, health disparities, social determinants of health and health in all policies.
